Shedding new light on exhibitions

Part of the Silvermuseet's exhibition Mujttalus. Straight ahead you can see some Sami costumes, to the left you can glimpse some utensils such as bags and root objects.

Now we will "shed new light" on our exhibitions - in a real sense! The lighting will be replaced, starting with the Silver Hall and Mujtttalus - which means that these exhibitions will be closed from today until week 44.

For some decades, the existing lights in the exhibitions have been on. This is draining, and over time problems have arisen, including some stands being left dark. So we are delighted that we can finally upgrade the lighting. Not only will the lighting be better, but we will also reduce energy consumption, which of course feels good.

For security reasons, we will not be able to keep the Silver Hall and Mujttalus open during the changeover, and we will therefore offer our visitors free admission to the rest of the museum during this period.

The upgrade is feasible thanks to grants from the National Heritage Board and village funds.
