Malin speaks at conference on clear-cut forestry
What's new
If you are interested in forestry issues, you have probably heard that there is an ongoing discussion about how forests can be harvested without clear-cutting, so-called clear-cut forestry. At the Silvermuseet we work with the project 'Mähttse - Forest' where we work with local issues on how the forest can be used in a sustainable way.
Today (May 4), museum director Malin Brännström is taking part in a conference on wood-free forestry at Operaterassen in Stockholm, where she is one of the speakers. The organizers are SLU/Future forest, Skogforsk and the Swedish Forest Agency. During the day, different motives and driving forces for a more varied forestry will be discussed and how cut-free methods can be part of this. Malin will talk about local and Sami landscape perspectives based on the conditions in Arjeplog.
The other speakers at the conference will be Henrik Andersson, Head of Membership at the forest owners' association Södra, Petter Ask, Forest Management Specialist at Sveaskog, and Stefanie Schmidt, DG Environment, European Commission.
