Ingela Bergman awarded the Gustaf Adolf Medal
What's new
Our own Ingela Bergman is awarded the Gustaf Adolf Medal with the consent of HM the King, for her work in building and running the Institute for Arctic Landscape Research (INSARC), at the Silvermuseet.
Kungl. Vitterhetsakademien awards prizes and medals every year to researchers who distinguish themselves through their work. The awarding of the Gustaf Adolf Medal to Ingela Bergman with the consent of HM the King confirms the important role of the Institute and research in society.
Ingela Bergman feels honored by the award: "The fact that others recognize the work that has been done in Arjeplog, and see the value of it, makes me very happy! It means a lot to me. For me, it is proof that research environments of the highest quality can also be developed outside the universities. It bodes well for the future! But she adds that she doesn't quite understand the full extent of the award. - "It's not part of everyday life to be awarded medals, so it feels a bit strange, actually.
The director of the Silvermuseet, Malin Brännström, expresses great joy over her colleague's award: "We at the museum are of course very proud and happy about this. The medal is also a recognition of the research conducted at the INSARC research institute under the leadership of Ingela.
Ingela Bergman has already received a medal for her research efforts. In 2014, she was awarded HM the King's Medal 8th size in the Order of the Seraphim with the motivation "for outstanding achievements in subarctic landscape research". This is the first time the Silvermuseet/INSARC has received an award from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, whose main purpose is to support research in the humanities, social sciences and cultural heritage.
It is the National Heritage Board (RAÄ) that proposes the medal, which is then approved by HM the King.
