Sami & smallholders

What was it like when your grandmother's mother was at school? What did they do for a living? How did people dress? And how did you get wool for yarn?

Here we meet the cousins Inga and Sara-Maria who take the students on a journey to the beginning of the 20th century.

Inga's family has left the nomadic life behind and started a small farm. On this particular day, everyone has gone by horse and cart to the neighboring village and Inga is alone with all the tasks that need to be done.

For Sara-Maria, life in the hut is everyday and the tasks vary depending on the season. Raising the hut, baking bread, tanning skins and gathering supplies are some of the tasks that may need to be done for the coming season.

Luckily, a whole school class turns up to help!

Grades 1-6. Age-appropriate.
