Children and schools

We make a fire in the log cabin and talk about different types of huts, their similarities and differences, and various rules and terms related to life in the hut.

We'll take a look at the other buildings in the museum's collection and tell you a little about them.

For younger children, we finish with a visit to Plupp's hut.

This school program is offered annually during Sámi Week for preschool, grade 4 and grade 7.

In the program, students get acquainted with some Sami words, loanwords in the Arjeplog language and some place names and their meanings.

For the preschool class, the focus is on learning to count in Sami.

For Christmas, you need both pike and seven kinds of cookies. But what happens when the things you need mysteriously disappear?

Every year, in December, we invite the five-year-olds of the municipality to help us solve the mysteries that arise when we try to organize an old-fashioned Christmas.

Plupp is a small creature with blue, wavy hair who lives in a peat hut in the mountains. His closest friends are Lämmel and Hermelin, but Plupp can talk to all animals. In At Home with Plupp, you can visit the peat hut, take a trip down the spring river, get to know the bear and the wolf or take a reading break in the book corner, which is of course filled with Plupp books in several languages.
