Renovated hut and shed

A person with short gray hair and a gray-brown jacket is sitting on the roof of a timber shed. New timber has been laid near one corner of the roof; where the person is sitting, there is wood.

If you have walked below the museum, you may have seen that both the hut and the shed have received new logs. The hut was first out in September 2015 and now in May the shed has a new roof.

For a few days this fall and spring, Lars Liedgren from the Silvermuseet and Sven-Erik Elveback have been working to renovate the hut and shed outside the museum.

The hut is of forest Sami design and was built by Magnus Holmgren, Maskaur, in the 1950s. In addition to a new roof, the hut also got a new door last fall. The shed, which is one of the oldest buildings in Arjeplog, stood on the old church and market place. For a few decades, the shed served as a playhouse at the workhouse, and when it was closed down, the shed ended up at the Silvermuseet.
