The director of the Silvermuseet, Malin Brännström, is the "Arjeplogian of the Year". She receives the award because, according to the jury, in a communicative and receptive way and with the help of existing research and her own findings, she has taken a stand to make the history of Norrbotten and northern Sweden visible. Not least in connection with the reporting of SVT's documentary Historien om Sverige.

The award is given to people who have distinguished themselves by making a significant contribution to Arjeplog municipality during the year, and the jury consists of members of the municipal council.

The Silvermuseet works to make history visible in the present and for the future. We need a rearview mirror to understand our present and to make wise decisions for the future. Unfortunately, the history of northern Sweden is often invisible in many contexts, which makes it difficult for others to understand our conditions and needs." - I am both surprised and grateful for the award. It is of course great that my work and the Silvermuseet's activities are recognized, says Malin.

The award shows that the Silvermuseet and the INSARC research institute are important for Arjeplog residents and for the community. We will continue to work on these important issues and to be the common history of Arjeplog.
